With BMW's most powerful inline 6-cylinder engine to date, the S58, the new iteration of the M3 stands out from its predecessors. With the option of all-wheel drive, a first for this model, the M3 pushes the boundaries long defended by the brand's iconic icon. Being the iconic chassis modified by Dinan, the development of the G8x had to raise the bar and stand out from the crowd; a difficult task, but one we were pleased to take on. After months of extensive design and validation, this journey has come to a close with the first of these ambitious ambitions: the Dinan G8x carbon fiber cold air intake. Both functional, sonic and aesthetic, this air intake is not only aesthetic and sonic, but also efficient. With a 12% increase in airflow to the engine without negatively impacting intake temperature or pressure, the Dinan G8x system ticks all the boxes. Drawing in more free air for consumption allows for more efficient turbos (less effort for the same power) and increased power potential on modified versions. At the heart of the design and our obsessive-compulsive need for a symmetrical engine bay is a unique plenum that replaces the separate driver and passenger intake ducts of the stock setup. Combining the two ducts into a single, distinctive, enlarged common duct allows for 50% more volume in this tight space, while simplifying installation and improving overall aesthetics. The center plenum gives way to enlarged air boxes that house 11% larger cotton air filters, providing exceptional filtration while maximizing flow. These filters are fed by the stock intake grilles as well as additional cutouts on the top of each airbox cover. The semi-open design has been carefully considered to ensure that these additional inlets have no negative effect on temperature or flow rate. However, the airbox's secondary passages allow the intake sound to escape its old plastic prison, to the benefit of all. Whether you're accelerating hard, decelerating, or just cruising, the amplified sounds are sure to make a strong impression. Beyond the improvements in fluidity and sound, the aesthetics of the Dinan G8x M2/M3/M4 intake system are second to none. A quick glance is enough to see that the system has been carefully designed to integrate naturally into the original engine compartment, while enhancing it. Playing on the sharp angles present throughout, the Dinan intake system carefully captures these lines for an authentic, stock look and feel. A 2×2 twill weave in carbon fibre is used throughout the vehicle and is available in glossy or matte finish – a first for Dinan, which further distinguishes it from previous models.
