The Honda FK8 Type R intake is the result of extensive design iteration through dyno testing and flow analysis. It was developed to achieve two goals: 1) Maintain low intake temperatures. 2) Free up the turbo intake path. The first goal was achieved by enclosing the filter inside a carbon airbox and using the stock gasket against the hood to block heat absorption from the engine. Since the intake sits directly behind the radiator, it is critical that the filter not be exposed, which would result in a loss of power due to high IAT. The second goal was achieved by removing the flex tube and optimizing the intake path with a Venturi stack connected directly to the filter. Additionally, we added a second inlet to the airbox with a scoop that draws air from the inner fender area. This nearly doubles the total cross-sectional area that the turbo can draw through compared to the stock system’s single inlet. Our carbon airbox housing has been designed to maximize use of the available volume and block all heat sources. The resulting performance gains and aesthetics are industry-leading for the FK8 Type R.
