Girodisc Rear Axle Brake Discs for Porsche 996 C4S / GT3 / 997.1 / 997.2 without PCCB (see compatibility list)

Description

The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the stock disc on all 996 GT2/GT3 models. No modifications are required. The disc will bolt directly onto the car and work perfectly with the stock calipers. By upgrading your brakes with lightweight, high-performance replacements, as opposed to a large brake kit, your factory preference is maintained as well as the effectiveness of your ABS. Girodisc front rotors weigh approximately 9,5kg compared to 11,6kg for the stock units. This reduction in rotating and unsprung weight allows for quicker acceleration and suspension response.

The center section of our rotor hat is manufactured from 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum sourced strictly in the USA. The disc is manufactured from our own proprietary casting, cast in the USA and machined from start to finish in-house at Girodisc. The rotor utilizes a curved vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc.

The rotor and hat feature a floating mounting system, which utilizes 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by Girodisc in the USA to our own specifications and cadmium plated for long-lasting corrosion resistance. These pins support the load of braking actions while maintaining axial and radial float between the hat and disc. The pins are secured by grade 12,9 cap screws with hardened washers. To prevent the rotors from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side that allow the rotor to grow with thermal expansion but eliminate the rattle and noise associated with floating rotors. This float also allows the rotor to self-center between the pads.

Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron rotor when necessary.
