Girodisc brake discs for Porsche 991 GT3 / GT3 RS (991.1 & 991.2) front axle

Description

The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the stock disc on the 991 GT3 and GT3 RS with stock iron discs. No modifications are required, allowing the use of unmodified stock pads, unlike most aftermarket solutions for this application. The disc bolts directly to the car and works seamlessly with the stock calipers. By upgrading your brakes with high performance lightweight replacements as opposed to a big brake kit, your factory bias is maintained as well as the effectiveness of your ABS.

The center section of the disc is manufactured from aircraft-specification 6061-T6 aluminum sourced strictly in the USA. The disc is manufactured from cast iron in the USA and machined from start to finish in-house by Girodisc. The disc utilizes a curved fin design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump and force cooling air through the disc.

The disc and hat have a floating mounting system, which uses 12 high strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by Girodisc in the USA to our own specifications and cadmium plated for long lasting corrosion resistance. These pins support the load of braking actions while maintaining axial and radial float between the hat and disc. The pins are secured with grade 12.9 cap screws with hardened washers. To prevent the discs from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with anti-noise spring washers on the disc side, which allows the disc to grow with thermal expansion but eliminates the rattle and noise associated with floating discs. This float also allows the disc to self-center between the pads.

Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron disc when necessary.
