Airtec intercooler for Audi S1

Description

AIRTEC intercooler upgrade for Audi S1. This modification is ideal for all Audi S1s, whether stock or remapped. It prevents premature overheating and increases power.

AIRTEC has launched its Audi Sport S1 front intercooler, thus complementing its growing range of high-performance intercoolers.

Audi managed to fit the 2.0 TSI engine from the Golf GTI into the small chassis of the S1. Unfortunately, due to the space constraints of the S1, they had to make a huge compromise with the intercooler, the S1's being three times smaller than the Golf GTI's.

Road tests revealed that the standard intercooler became clogged with heat (unable to cool the turbo's intake temperatures) and that temperatures reached 69 degrees, forcing the ECU to remove the ignition timing from the map and resulting in a drop in power.

With the AIRTEC intercooler installed, the intake temperature did not exceed 24 degrees, which means no loss of power.
