The second-generation B58 engine is fantastic, but it has a known reliability issue: its intercooler piping. This piping is notoriously fragile and can break even on stock cars during track sessions. If you plan to tune your engine, it is highly recommended that you replace the intercooler piping beforehand.

Numerous intercooler hose kits for the B58 engine are available on the market, but in our opinion, most are poorly designed. Many competitors use a basic design: two hoses connected by a shortened, straight silicone hose. Clearly, they haven't grasped the importance of managing thermal movement within this system. Such a design is almost guaranteed to cause problems, with the hose detaching due to its lack of flexibility in the face of temperature changes. A common solution people consider is tightening the clamps further, but this will often break the hoses because it deforms the clamping surface.

But at do88, we took a different approach. For us, it was clear that the system required a flexible connection between the two hoses that could accommodate thermal expansion and contraction. Our solution is an aramid-reinforced silicone hose with three bulges. This hose design allows movement in all directions without kinking or stressing the connections. To further strengthen our design, the hoses have CNC-machined 6063 aluminum hose connection ends with a 3mm wall thickness. These hose connections won't deform, even with overtightened clamps.

Our intercooler hoses not only solve the durability problem but also improve performance. We designed our hoses with a larger diameter and smoother bends to enhance performance. The lower hose measures 60mm (2 3/8″) and the upper hose 76mm (3″), effectively reducing pressure loss and minimizing turbulence.

Our intercooler piping, which connects to the throttle body via its CNC-machined flange, features two 1/8 NPT ports suitable for methanol injection or outlets such as a boost pressure sensor. Additionally, we supply two 1/8 NPT plugs for those who choose not to use these ports.

Important Notice

The space available for the charge pipe between the throttle body and the slam panel (the sheet metal piece located above the radiators) is very limited on the G-chassis platform. In some cases, it may be necessary to grind down the edge of this slam panel by a few millimeters to provide more space for the do88 charge pipe.
