Context

The S58 engine in the 2021+ BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 models features an engine oil cooler mounted horizontally beneath the front center radiators. The original oil cooler has a tube and fin design, which is easily damaged by stones or other road debris. Due to its design and location, it's not uncommon for the oil cooler to leak from small stones or other road debris. Such oil leaks can seriously damage the engine. With our do88 engine oil cooler, we offer a much more durable design and, of course, improve cooling performance at the same time!

Our Solution

To design our oil cooler with precision, we performed a detailed 3D scan of the oil cooler mounting area. This scan provided us with a detailed space for designing our do88 engine oil cooler. We replaced the original Tube & Finn core with a more durable Bar & Plate core combined with TIG-welded aluminum tanks.

Our upgraded do88 engine oil cooler helps your M2, M3, or M4 maintain the correct oil temperature both on the track and on the road. Our design increases the active cooling surface area (+14%) and core volume (57%) compared to the original oil cooler. The robust Bar & Plate core will better withstand road debris and rocks while improving cooling performance.
