Context

For 2021+ BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 models, the ZF 8HP automatic transmission is robust and fast, designed to handle the high power of the S58 engine. However, engine upgrades with additional performance parts and ECU remapping can overwhelm the stock cooling system, especially during track driving. The risks of transmission overheating include slower gear changes and the potential for transmission damage. To address this temperature challenge, do88 has developed an enhanced transmission cooler to help maintain optimal temperatures and ensure proper transmission operation.

Our Solution

The do88 high-performance transmission cooler for 2021+ BMW G8X models significantly improves cooling efficiency. Our engineers redesigned the transmission cooler core, increasing its volume by 71% and its cooling surface area by 50% while maintaining similar oil pressures. We improved the tubing with harmonic tubes featuring internal channels, ensuring optimal cooling efficiency. This also increases the system's cooling capacity with a 42% increase (8,5 dl vs. 6 dl) in oil volume. The do88 cooler utilizes a dual-pass design, meaning the fluid remains in the cooler longer, resulting in greater heat dissipation.
