Introducing our updated carbon turbo tube for the FK2, which is now even larger, allowing the turbo to run with even less restriction and therefore unleashing even more power. Our turbo tube was designed with these 3 key goals in mind:
1) VOLUME: Intake Diameters – Eventuri 78mm at the inlet end, increasing to 88mm from OE 63mm. Starting with the connection to the intake system, we have matched the diameter of the MAF tube and this now increases to 88mm across the main section of the tube, giving a 96% increase in cross section over the OEM tube. Obviously, with significantly larger internal diameters, the Eventuri tube encapsulates a much larger internal volume which un-restricts the flow path to the turbo. This allows the turbo to operate more efficiently and reach peak boost levels quicker. It also allows the turbo to operate at maximum boost with less turbine load.
2) FLOW QUALITY: Large internal volume is not enough unless the flow path also allows for smooth airflow to the turbo. By using high temperature pre-preg carbon fiber, we have achieved a smooth internal surface. In contrast, the stock intake tube is made from cast aluminum that ends in a rough internal surface. This, combined with the gentle curvature of the elbow, results in a flow path that minimizes turbulence.
3) TEMPERATURE: The final criteria was to minimize heat conduction into the airflow. The stock intake is directly connected to the turbo and therefore immediately conducts heat when the turbo spins. Our system uses a machined flange that connects to the turbo and then a silicone coupler with an integrated thermal spacer to prevent the carbon elbow from having direct contact with the turbo. This barrier, combined with the low thermal conductivity of carbon fiber throughout its thickness, allows for less heat to be transferred to the airflow.
This turbo tube was designed to fit our FK2 intake with the carbon MAF tube.
