Eventuri Carbon Turbo Inlet Pipe for Honda Civic Type R FL5

Description

Introducing our carbon turbo tube for the Honda FL5, which is a direct replacement for the stock metal turbo tube. Using the same specifications as our FK8 tube, we developed the FL5 version with these 3 key goals:

1) VOLUME: Intake Diameters – Eventuri 78mm at the inlet end, increasing to 88mm. In comparison, the OEM tube starts at 76,5mm and remains at this diameter before tapering at the turbo inlet. This equates to an increase in cross-section of over 32% at the largest point. While the OEM FL5 tube does not restrict the turbo at stock boost levels, we expect our larger tube to benefit at higher boost levels where the demand for airflow is increased.

2) FLOW QUALITY: Large internal volume is not enough unless the flow path also allows for smooth airflow to the turbo. By using high temperature pre-preg carbon fiber, we have achieved a smooth internal surface. In contrast, the stock intake tube is made from cast aluminum that ends in a rough internal surface. This, combined with the gentle curvature of the elbow, results in a flow path that minimizes turbulence.

3) TEMPERATURE: The final criteria was to minimize heat conduction into the airflow. The stock intake is directly connected to the turbo and therefore immediately conducts heat when the turbo spins. Our system uses a machined flange that connects to the turbo and then a silicone coupler with an integrated thermal spacer to prevent the carbon elbow from having direct contact with the turbo. This barrier, combined with the low thermal conductivity of carbon fiber throughout its thickness, allows for less heat to be transferred to the airflow.
