S55 Carbon Charge Tubes
Introducing our S55 Raw Carbon Fiber Charge Tubes. We have invested months of intense research and development into development and testing to bring you OEM replacement charge tubes that leave no room for compromise. FITMENT – FLOW QUALITY – STRENGTH are the 3 main design criteria we have sought to meet.
1) FITMENT: A common problem with aftermarket charge pipes is poor fitment due to the nature of being made from bent metal tubing. Clearances with the engine cover and other aftermarket intake systems can be an issue. Our solution with the use of carbon fiber allows us to use complex geometry to provide OEM-like fitment while maintaining optimum flow.
2) FLOW QUALITY: Our design utilizes smooth curve transitions between the turbo outlets and the charge cooler. Additionally, we have also increased the internal volume over the OEM version to allow the turbos to operate with less restriction. Importantly, our machined flange mount at the turbo outlet maintains a consistent diameter on the charge tubes with no exposed edges that could cause turbulence. This is an improvement over aftermarket metal charge tubes that often have welds between the flange and the tubes.
3) STRENGTH: The final criteria was to increase the structural strength of the charge tubes over the OEM versions. It is becoming increasingly common for OEM charge tubes to fail, especially on tuned cars with higher boost levels. By using a cross-sectional carbon weave with multiple layers to form a 2mm wall thickness, our charge tubes provide an incredibly strong solution for reliable operation even with larger turbos. Additionally, we have integrated CNC machined stainless steel rings into the openings where the clamps are tightened to ensure the tubes retain their shape even under high clamping forces.
In order to increase the structural reliability of the carbon charge tubes, we did not add methanol ports. Instead, we are developing a separate J-tube that will incorporate multiple methanol ports. Having these ports in the J-tube is also a more suitable location for additional cooling since it is located immediately before the intake manifold.
